This is McGhee Tyson Airport’s official lost and found service. Our goal is to help you relocate your belongings as quickly and easily as possible. Below, you’ll find clear, step-by-step guidance on who to contact—whether it’s Airport Lost and Found, TSA, or your airline—based on where your item may have been left.

Item Lost in Airport Public Areas

Items left in gate areas, restrooms, baggage claim, or other public areas are sent to McGhee Tyson Airport’s Lost and Found. File a Claim Online Here. Submitting a claim is free of charge. The airport will never charge you for inquiring about your lost item(s).

Filing a report ensures your request reaches the right team. You’ll receive an immediate confirmation email, a follow-up after three days, and weekly updates for up to one month. Lost and Found items are held for a minimum of 30 days.

Please note: If you file a claim and get a notification to retrieve your item, the Lost and Found office is open for retrievals from 10am – 5pm, Monday through Friday.

For health and safety reasons, Lost and Found does not accept or store certain items, and these items may be discarded at the end of each business day. This includes perishable food and beverages, inexpensive food or drink containers, personal hygiene items such as pillows, blankets, and soiled clothing, hazardous or restricted materials (including flammable liquids or gases, chemicals, batteries, butane or propane canisters, and hoverboards), tobacco and vaping products, weapons such as camping knives, oxygen tanks, and biohazard materials.

Items left on an airplane are turned into your airline. Contact your airline directly.

Item Lost at the TSA Security Checkpoint

Items left at the TSA Security Checkpoint are collected and managed by the Transportation Security Administration(TSA).

Item Lost in Rental Car

Items left in a rental car or in the pickup or return area are turned into your rental car company. Contact your rental car company directly.

I found an item at McGhee Tyson Airport. What should I do?

If you find an item inside the terminal or on airport property, please turn it in to McGhee Tyson Airport’s Lost and Found as soon as possible. You can turn items into the Information Booth located in Baggage Claim, or you can turn in items to any Airport Safety or Security Personnel. Promptly returning found items gives the owner the best chance of being reunited with their belongings.

For security and accuracy reasons, Lost and Found does not accept reports for found items without the item being physically turned in.

How does Lost and Found match items with their owners?

McGhee Tyson Airport uses a Lost and Found software system that helps match lost item reports with items that have been turned in. Each item is reviewed for identifying details and characteristics. When a match is made, the owner is contacted by email or phone and provided with next steps for retrieval.

How can I claim my item if I’m no longer at the airport?

If you’re unable to return to McGhee Tyson Airport in person, Lost and Found offers secure FedEx shipping options through the online reporting system. You may also designate someone to pick up the item on your behalf.
