3:00PM TRAVEL NOTICE: McGhee Tyson Airport experienced an electrical issue that created a partial power outage. The airport’s Department of Public Safety responded and contained the situation. Staff is working with the airport contractors and the City of Alcoa to make repairs. In the meantime, the airport is under restricted operations. Passengers should expect delays in their check in process. Arriving flights have also been impacted. Please check with your airline for specific information on your flight.

Airport President Announces Plan to Retire in December 2018

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – During the regularly scheduled February meeting of the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority’s Board of Commissioners, MKAA President William F. Marrison, A.A.E, submitted his notice of retirement effective December 31, 2018, after nearly 50 years in aviation and 36 years in MKAA leadership positions. Marrison is retiring for personal health reasons. # # #

The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority owns and operates both McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) and Downtown Island Airport (DKX).
