Airport Authority Wins Financial Reporting Award for 25th Consecutive Year

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2017 fiscal year. This year marks the twenty-fifth year in a row that the MKAA has received this financial award. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“Since inception, our comprehensive annual financial report has served as the foundation of our current and future fiscal plan for airport operations and capital projects,” said Eddie Mannis, Chairman of the MKAA Board of Commissioners. “We are honored to receive this award and commend our internal staff and external auditors, Coulter & Justus, for consistently creating an award-winning report that is both comprehensive and accurate in its presentation of our organization’s financial situation.”

The GFOA also recognized Nancy White, CPA, MKAA Controller. White joined MKAA in May 2017. For her first year overseeing the development of the MKAA CAFR, she was presented an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement.
