Uses brooms, dust pans, cleaners, mops, vacuum, dusters, buffing machines, carpet cleaner and chewing gum remover. Empties garbage, ashtrays, and replaces liners. Removes garbage and refuse to dumpster. Cleans windows using squeegee. Applies strippers and waxes for floor care. Cleans baggage belt closets. Cleans and sanitizes water fountains and restrooms. Performs other activities as may be requested or required.

The Director of Planning for the Metropolitan Knoxville
Airport Authority (MKAA) is responsible for directing
all aspects of airport planning and program activities
management for current and future transportation
needs. He or she must be a leader with proficiency in
conceptual planning and project development for air
carrier and general aviation airports alike. He or she
works closely with leadership and other departments
on multiple planning projects. This includes working
with consultants, planners and developers. The Director
demonstrates strong project management skills
overseeing multiple planning and development projects
or programs on behalf of the MKAA. The Director leads
workshops and presentations for the Board and other
public agencies. Importantly, the Director manages
the complex, multi-level Airport capital improvement
program and serves as the primary point of contact for
the program.

The Director of General Aviation for the Metropolitan
Knoxville Airport Authority manages all functions of
general aviation facilities, programs, and issues for
the Airport Authority. He or she directs, manages, and
supervises MKAA’s general aviation airport, Downtown
Island Airport (DKX), including airfield activities and
Fixed Base Operator (FBO) services. As general
manager of DKX, the Director makes financial and
operating decisions, maintains a safe and secure airport
environment at DKX, plans for operations, directs DKX
Airport staff, and maintains effective public relations
with DKX airport customers and the community. He or
she ensures compliance with all Authority policies and
procedures as well as FAA and State regulations. The
Director also serves as the Authority’s liaison to general
aviation service providers and tenants at McGhee Tyson
(TYS) Airport, including the contracted FBO, aircraft
maintenance operations, air cargo, and aerospace
industry tenants. He or she facilitates hosting of general
aviation programs and events at both DKX and TYS.
The Director interacts with other Authority staff for the
planning and development of general aviation related
facilities.


The Director manages a diverse staff involved in
a variety of activities. He or she makes all hiring
and termination decisions, prioritizes, assigns and
supervises assignments and approves work schedules
in accordance with MKAA policies. The Director
approves or assigns employee development and
training opportunities, as well as counsels employees on
performance issues as necessary. He or she conducts
performance evaluations. The Director enforces MKAA
and Federal policies and procedures affecting airport
